Today we repaired a hole to a plastic bath for one of our letting agent clients. Someone had attempted to repair it before but the repair was not strong enough and the colour match poor.
One of our letting agent customers required us to repair a bathroom sink for a new tenant. We save our customers a lot of time and hassle, fitting a new sink would take some time and cost more than we charge for a repair.
Here is another example of a badly stained bath. The surface was very hard to clean for the customer due to the enamel being porous. Strong cleaning products were used only making the problem worse.
Today we helped a plumber who had damaged the top surface whilst cutting/installing the tap. You can see the graze marks from a tool and the result of our work.
Today we had an original cast iron bath that was in fairly good condition. It required a polish due to being a little stained and porous. After we had finished it was as good as new and ready for another 20 years +
There are a couple of bath repair kits on the market and they will do a ok ish job and for a short term fix.
The problems with these kits are :
1) The material is not properly etched the surface meaning it will come of after a short period of time,
2) The colour match is not exact meaning it will be obvious where the repair has been made.
3) The finish will look poor and uneven.
The cost of a good kit is about £35 - £40, so yes on paper it is cheaper that a professional repair but you will be more than likely to have to do the repair all over again in a couple of month and it won't look good.
So are these kits a false economy? You decide.

I used to get a number of calls to resurface baths from customers in London but at the time didn't want to face the traffic and parking space problems so passed these on. Unfortunately the person I referred the work to didn't do a good job and I got to hear about this.So I have now decided to service the London area myself to ensure a good job is done!
